ARE DEMOCRATS THE “PARTY OF FREEDOM”

"In Minnesota, we respect our neighbors and the personal choices they make, even if we wouldn't make those same choices for ourselves," said vice presidential nominee Tim Walz onstage last night at the Democratic National Convention (DNC). "We've got a golden rule: Mind your own damn business." 

The Promise

If you watched the DNC convention (I didn’t), you probably heard a lot of the empty promises Democrats love to make.  Over the many nights of the convention, multiple talking heads spoke of “leaving people alone,” but they also said that this included “sometimes with government assistance (health care, welfare, government mandates that drug prices be lowered, etc.) to make it all possible.  The Democrats like to speak of Republicans as enemies of freedom.  They cite “book banning,” which actually means keeping inappropriate sexual content out of school libraries, not actually banning books.  They like to say that the Right plans to ban contraception, but this is not something the Party has ever said or wanted to say.

The Democrats and Harris promise you freedom.  The only freedoms they actually like is the ability to have a cheap or free abortion up until birth and for illegals to take advantage of taxpayers while those who apply properly for admission get ignored.

The Reality

As we can’t rely on the empty promises of politicians, we have to look at the past—what have they actually done with our freedoms? 

1.   Want to own a gun and carry it legally?  The Left is against all private ownership of guns.  Harris actually has said this on many occasions.  She and the rest love that they have armed protection, but they don’t want people living in dangerous places to have the right to the same protection.  Even with Bruen, it is still time-consuming, costly and difficult to get a carry permit.

2.   Want to continue to buy the car of your choice?  Not if they have their way.  You will own an EV or nothing.  The fact that EVs are a bad choice for many people is irrelevant. 

3.   Do you like your current household appliances?  They want to tell you what you can own, and it is likely to be much more expensive and less efficient for you.  I remember low-flow toilets—too often, you had to flush more than once to get the job done.

4.   Health care is less free now.  Doctors operate under egregious rules such as limiting what they may prescribe.  During Covid, treatments that worked were banned and doctors risked losing their licenses if they offered patients ivermectin.  Insurance is far more constrained and more costly for many.  For some reason, the Democrats think they understand medicine more than doctors do. Don’t look to the AMA for support; they’re in bed with the Left and fewer doctors are members anymore.

5.   Like paying taxes?  The Democrats believe that the money you have earned isn’t really yours.  They’re letting you keep some of it because they are so nice. They miss the days before JFK lowered the marginal rate for the wealthy from 90%.  And what do they do with that money?  Mostly, not what you want them to do.  Few really represent us anymore.  They have their own ends in mind, which often means doing whatever they have to do so they can leave office vastly wealthier than when they got elected.  Look at this quote from Matt Welch, which sums up their end-game.

"Investing our very souls into the fortunes of politicians is not the habit of a healthy civic culture," wrote Reason's Matt Welch earlier this week. "The people who compete for the right to control $7 trillion of money extracted from taxpayers upon threat of imprisonment are not your friends. The executives who sit atop the Justice Department, who have control over history's most powerful military, are not responsible for your hopes, your dreams, your healing. Imbuing elected officials with such spiritual potency is a recipe for self-infantilization, disappointment, and terrible executive-branch governance."

We don’t even know yet all that they want to control, but we know that the Left doesn’t really represent us.  They represent their own aims and goals, which are to achieve power and wealth.  Look at California.  Gavin Newsom is much richer than he was and his power knows no limits.  His protocols under Covid were extreme.  However, his attitude toward criminals is lax, leaving us all at risk.  He favors illegals over citizens, criminals over law-abiding folk.  If you want to see what a Harris regime will look like, just look to the Left Coast.  Businesses are failing right and left because of crime and stupid laws.  People are leaving.  But if our whole country becomes California, you have to wonder where you’ll go.

Vote smart.  Watch at the polls for violations.  The Left WILL try to steal this election; they have to.
