Our History
Since our founding, we’ve taken it for granted that our military is the best in the world; we are a serious threat to all invading or overreaching countries. More recent failures (Viet Nam, the Middle East) haven’t caused us to lose faith. But perhaps we have become over-confident. As a nation, we need to understand whether we could challenge either Russia or China.
The Downsized Military
At one time, the military was a haven for those who didn’t know what they wanted to do next, for those seeking an education, for those inspired by our country and for those with a mission. Recent mistakes by our government include taking on conflicts that had nothing to do with protecting our country, over-extending tours of duty, giving inadequate protective gear and basically underfunding everything. This has made joining up far less attractive to many.
Political correctness (wokeness) has further cost us candidates, as many of our military are more conservative. They refuse to adjust their behavior to avoid offending snowflakes. They don’t want to learn countless exemptions to the he/she rule. Most importantly, encouraging people who do not conform to military standards makes all soldiers less safe. The bonding that is so critical doesn’t happen when some people require you to tiptoe around them, trying to avoid “microaggressions,” whatever they are.
Biden has gotten rid of a lot of still-useful equipment and funded all the wrong future ships, planes and weapon systems. We aren’t going to fighting WWII again. Everything has changed and our hardware has to evolve as well.
People who serve don’t get paid a lot and risk their lives. The Biden agenda makes it clear that they are no longer given the respect and support they have earned. His deliberate weakening of our country makes it almost impossible to take those risks. (The same may be said of the Secret Service. Given what the Dems have done to our country, how many would lay down their lives to protect them)
In addition, the recent China virus vaccine mandates not only deterred applicants, but forced thousands of well-trained troops and officers out of their jobs. This misguided effort has rendered us even more toothless than we were.
We’re not ready to fight.
The Threats We Ignore
The first threat is sheer numbers. As China has shown in the past, with a billion+ people, they can afford to throw people away. We don’t have their numbers. While some triumphs have been achieved by lesser forces, it is a huge risk to assume we can thrive against masses of people sent against as a sacrifice.
We are mostly ignoring China’s world vision. Between taking over property across the Pacific and their invasive Belt and Road initiative, China has made it clear that they intend to be the dominant country in the near future. They want the yuan to be the world’s reserve currency and for every nation to fall in line with their policies. We probably never should have admitted them to free trade; they did not become the familiar friend other nations became as they entered the global economy. When a country wants to rule the world, we have to take notice and act. Biden is fine with China taking over as long as Hunter gets paid.
Instead of shrinking its military, China has doubled down, spending a sizable amount not only to grow the troop numbers, but to develop (mostly from stolen tech) modern war machines. They are now formidable and will become even more so.
The CCP leaders are not going to abide by the Geneva Convention. We saw this with Covid. A lab leak is not only rapidly contained; you are morally obligated to let the world know so they can be proactive. Containment is necessary. Instead, they pretended not to know, denied responsibility and then blamed the US for it. They can and will use any “weapon” in their arsenal, including biological, chemical and nuclear weapons. We either don’t understand how different they are from us or we are sticking our heads in the sand.
Our cyber protections are a joke. All the hacks, service denials and ransomware problems indicate that we are woefully behind in protecting our assets. This means that in a world where we rely on systems to communicate, direct actions and empower drones, China could just sit back and watch what we plan, intercepting it before we can get close. We’re also far too dependent on unprotected technology. China could launch targeted EMP pulses and put all computer systems (including vehicles and ships) out of service. Panic would result.
What Should We Do?
It’s time that Americans prepare for war. Ditch climate change spending and social engineering. Focus every dollar on this threat. During WWII, every citizen sacrificed to help us win the war. We need to start this now. Stop trying to offer free college, services to illegals, Medicare for All and other grandiose and impractical Dem desires. We can’t afford them. It’s time to get a reality check unless we want to start to learn Cantonese.
Unfortunately until the current cadre is voted out we will continue to spiral downward. Personally, and yes I’m biased, I prefer leaders with military experience and the last three haven’t. Although, I think Trump understood the importance.
