Nothing New
Anthony Fauci said one correct things in his long role as Covid czar – “Masks don’t work.” For those who didn’t read the blog or didn’t know, surgeons wear masks largely to prevent them getting hit in the fact with blood or sneezing/coughing on a patient. If there is really fear of infection, they can operate in a “space suit.”
If you are still masking up, I have to ask…Why?
The Science
While the Left enjoys claiming to “follow the science,” the Cochrane Library is the gold standard for healthcare research. They collect clinical trials and more, which means you have at your fingertips the best research studies. This is what they said about mask wearing as opposed to other interventions:
“The pooled results of RCTs did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks. There were no clear differences between the use of medical/surgical masks compared with N95/P2 respirators in healthcare workers when used in routine care to reduce respiratory viral infection. Hand hygiene is likely to modestly reduce the burden of respiratory illness, and although this effect was also present when ILI and laboratory‐confirmed influenza were analyzed separately, it was not found to be a significant difference for the latter two outcomes. Harms associated with physical interventions were under‐investigated.
International researchers reviewed dozens of rigorous studies into physical interventions. These studies were randomized and included testing for protection against both Covid and the flu. Not even a modest benefit was recorded. In addition, they found that masking hurt childhood development, speech development and social interactions. For adults, the impacts were less severe, but the benefit was nil.
Why Do Some Mask?
Government-influenced fear is powerful. Many practically worshipped Tony Fauci and made him into a latter-day hero. If he now thinks masking is good, so do they. The isolation from others was what kept them safe, but they don’t get that. And the recent severe infection and death in China post-isolation shows that whatever benefit you get from isolating yourself is negated by how much your immune system weakens. Unless you never plan to go outside, the benefit is minimal but the risk is great.
I think some also mask to shame others. “We’re doing all we can; why aren’t you?” But some have become slaves to political dictates, and that’s scary.
Why Do We Care?
Mask mandates and physical distancing were the first shot in a battle to subsume your rights. As they found people would comply, they added vaccine mandates. Never in the past was that considered an option, and in many cases, people lined up to voluntarily take a vaccine. But it was never everyone.
The World Economic Forum is proposing far more intrusive and unpleasant regulations. But even they know this imposition must go step by step. Even during Covid, the reluctance of people to comply has given them pause. This crowd of privileged people, to whom none of these regulations will ever apply, knows that if you boil the frog slowly, it won’t protest. But we have to recognize what’s going on.
If you don’t want to live on a protein diet of bugs, live in stack-and-pack housing and have to rely on public transit, you need to make it clear that you won’t comply with any more ridiculous mandates. Even while some seem inoffensive, the end game is a disaster. Masking is compliance. Save it for doctors’ offices, where it is still their choice to request it. Otherwise, refuse.
A Quick Shot
I know that even among conservatives, there is a lot of concern about global warming, despite the proven genius of inventors to solve any problem that occurs. NOAA, the real authorities on measuring this “problem” have stated that we haven’t had any warming in over eight years.
“No global warming for 8 years and 5 months, per NASA satellite data.
That's no warming despite ~475 billion tons of CO2 emissions. CO2 warming is the biggest scientific hoax of all time.” A recent quote from Twitter from a scientist examining the data.
I almost feel compelled to put a picture of Alfred E. Neumann here. “What, me worry?”
