I remember reading a joke about a blonde who spent like crazy. “I still have checks in my checkbook. I can’t be broke,” she said. This makes me think of the many Democrats who believe that because they can “print money” via the Fed and because they believe there are still people who aren’t taxed enough, they still can spend wildly without consequence. And when you’ve already hobbled the economy with bad decisions, people should be out there screaming.
The First Days
Biden came into office with only one agenda—to undo everything President Trump had put into place. He couldn’t manage to antagonize the Arab countries who had signed treaties with Israel, but he did everything he could to undo the “damage” caused by Trump’s policies. Yes, the same policies that brought us a great economy and many jobs and which made us energy-independent for the first time in years.
His choice to stop the Keystone Pipeline (while happily agreeing that Nord Stream II was a good idea) and to try to stop every possible method of energy production that wasn’t wind or solar has led to increased costs in every sector. Note that Europe and China are betting big on coal, all while pretending to be good “green” citizens. But no, we have to lead the way while bankrupting companies and many families. We are increasingly dependent on having goods brought directly to our doors; how do Democrats think those goods get there? It all takes energy.
He stopped the Wall and opened the borders, welcoming everyone in the world to our shores to be fed, housed and moved to states without state permission. None were tested for the CCP virus (or any other conditions), nor were they required to be vaccinated. He halted all deportations and allowed criminal aliens to be welcomed as well. We have many poor people in this country that we can’t feed or house. Do we really have the resources to take care of the rest of the world’s homeless? Later, he insisted that the unvaccinated should be fired and kept out of all social engagement…but not illegals.
He claimed credit for the vaccines, but only implemented Trump’s rollout for getting them into arms. Meanwhile kids were kept out of schools for even longer, which particularly impacts minority kids who, in most cases, don’t have the support and resources to successfully navigate online school.
He announced plans to rejoin the Paris Accords, planning to be the only country to abide by job-killing, financially harmful green deals.
Hey, Big Spender
No one argues that infrastructure is important, and in many cases, has been ignored too long. But I remember that post-Katrina, it was revealed that almost 12% of the federal water management budget was given to New Orleans to prepare the city for a damaging flood. It was spent on other things, leaving the city vulnerable to the next big storm. Federal money is too often misspent and creating another wellspring of funds is a mistake. If states have issues, they need to define them and pay for them with state money. The Feds may have need to spend some on national parks and highways, but nothing else.
Giving out more CCP relief checks after the emergency was over made no sense, nor did it make sense to continue to back rent forgiveness or add to unemployment checks. The result has been too many people continuing to ignore rent demands and even more people refusing to return to work. Our shortages and continued business closures are a logical consequence of giving people incentives to be lazy and simply stay home. Some companies have been able to raise wages, but most cannot. At the end of the day, a job is worth only so much money. If you pay people more, you have to charge more for goods and services, which means those paychecks won’t go any farther.
Let’s not forget Build Back Better. We’re fortunate, for now, that two intelligent Senators are standing up against the Bernie Sanders plan. But the far Left is determined to push through an agenda that will make more of us servants of and dependent on the State. This isn’t who we are, and it isn’t an economic plan that has ever worked in any country. The US is no different. Socialism/communism does not work. Never will. When people are being robbed by the tax barons, they simply stop working so hard. The very rich can hide their money, but the rest of us simply give up.
What America Really is
We’re a country built on hard work, industry, innovation and self-determination. We understand personal responsibility and while a very generous country, as individuals, we expect people to pay their own way. Want college? Find one you can afford, or work a few years to earn the tuition costs. Want to buy a house? Start small and put money aside until you can afford one. For all your goals, have a career plan that allows your responsibility and salary to grow to meet your needs. And for every paycheck, put money aside for your retirement years.
We may have once looked to our parents to support us, but as we grow up, we’re supposed to have learned how to take on that job for ourselves. No one owes you anything, no matter what Bernie’s BBB says. We simply cannot afford to give everyone anything they want.
Just think back to your childhood Christmases. Did you ever get everything you asked for? And did you expect to? Of course not. No one is owed anything. Even the charity our country provides is at the cost of someone else’s hard-earned money. While none of us begrudge helping out the truly unfortunate, we expect people not to stay in the position of beggars forever.
We need to return to a society where welfare isn’t given on “dignity cards,” and free lunches aren’t expected. For the few unfortunates who will never be able to work, it would cost us just a few dollars each to support them. But if you aren’t one of those few, get moving and earn your own way. And that includes illegals. If you come here illegally, expect to get nothing. That’s all you deserve from the hard-working citizens of this country.
Bankruptcy Coming
Biden is all about bringing us to ruin. When we have too much debt, additional monies will only be available at ruinous interest. His lack of understanding of basic economics is chilling. I guess he doesn’t care if the country doesn’t survive him. But I do. I hope you do too.

To your point about helping others, conservatives are so often characterized as selfish and uncaring. We’re more than willing to help others who are unable or have suffered loss from uncontrollable circumstances. As you said though it should not be forever except in those cases where there is clearly no other options. We are far from being the ogres we’re portrayed to be.
