Spending Like It’s His Money

One thing we know about politicians; they have no problem spending your money.  If asked to dig into their own pocket, everything changes.  But Joe Biden has doubled down on that tendency, turning our already overwhelming debt into a crisis, while enriching himself through deals no President should ever consider.

Immigration

We’re a nation of immigrants and yet, until recently, we guarded our borders and regularly rewarded a generous number of applicants with admission.  However, we didn’t reward them financially.  If you came here, you were expected to find work, pay taxes and be responsible.  Legal immigrants are mostly still held to these standards.  However, if you come illegally, not only aren’t you punished for breaking our laws, you are rewarded.

The media refuses to comment on the unconscionable spending on illegals’ welfare.  But voices are reaching out to complain, voices of citizens who can’t get the help they need, yet are citizens.  Homeless and low-income people and veterans; none of them are rewarded with the largesse Biden offers the millions streaming over our border.  He’s happy to greet them with food, medical care, lodging and transportation.  If it were his own money, no one could question it.  But it isn’t.  I don’t see any expectation that these people are expected to make a contribution, only take.

How many of us have ever stayed in a $700/night hotel?  How many have seen wounded veterans of our wars living on the street? And the big question is – how many illegals would come if they were greeted with NOTHING.  No help, no water and an order to leave?  This is a solvable problem.  But Biden won’t because illegals vote.

Federally Subsidized Laziness

Under Bill Clinton, welfare was reduced in scope, to encourage people to get jobs and support themselves.  Biden just dropped the work requirement, radically expanded the free lunch program as well as increasing the food stamp program by 30%.  No such thing as a “free lunch?”  Well, now there is.  As we saw during Covid, when you expand freebies, people continue to grab them until they run out.  The unemployment numbers don’t include the huge number of young people who have simply dropped out of the job market, preferring to live on welfare in their parents’ homes.  Just like with illegal immigration, we know who has to pay the bills.  Biden loves being the benevolent Santa, but he makes us pay to maintain his image. As of 2022, the bill for these programs skyrocketed to $119BB.  He’s lowered the threshold for qualification, which makes the programs even more costly.  It appears to be Democrat policy to get everyone to be dependent on the government, but if we all did it, who would be earning the money to pay these bills?

I remember when they came out with the “dignity card,” implying that you shouldn’t feel embarrassed to be on the dole.  But you should. That bad feeling can help you move forward and become a responsible adult.  Our support for the poor should be short-term and focused on getting people off the program, not making more people eligible.  And don’t get me started on how single moms “deserve” help.  Many of my friends were single moms and they worked.  Biden doesn’t care.  People on welfare vote for the people who give them money – the Dems.

College

No one has a right to college, but Biden keeps pushing to pay off the debt voluntarily incurred by students.  There is no secret what your bill will be when you sign up for that fancy school.  I knew I couldn’t afford to even live on campus when I started college.  In fact, I was only able to go because I earned a scholarship and worked throughout my education.  I also chose a college that didn’t cost as much.

During Covid, interest on college debt was frozen, which gave these students a chance to whittle down their debt faster.  How many took advantage of it?  Probably almost none, because they were sure the Dems would let them off the hook.  But most of us realize that as we paid our debt or never had a college debt as we couldn’t afford to go, it is completely unfair to expect us to pay for these entitled brats.  Biden will keep pushing to try to cover this, simply to win votes. 

It's time to take away their credit cards and checkbooks.  We can’t afford the Democrat party (no, it’s not the Democratic Party).  We need to return to the age of the hard-working, legal American. Vote accordingly.
