CONSEQUENCES FOR SUPPORTING HAMAS
Time to Wake Up the Left
Imagine seeing a group of college students dressed up in Ku Klux Klan outfits, burning a cross on campus as they march for racial purity. Or another group dressed up as Nazis, supporting the extermination of Jews. Horrifying images, right? And yet, as we’ve watched the craziness of those supporting BLM riots, the idiocy of people in the Occupy XYZ protests, the tearing down of statues and now, the vehement support for the Hamas terrorists, is there really any difference?
When you stand up in protest of something, you are embracing ideals and ideologies. Since Hamas, Hezbollah and most Palestinians want the extermination of Jews, these protests say these students agree with this. They too believe Jews have no right to exist. More broadly, they are saying that only certain groups/people have the right to retaliate when they’ve been attacked.
I can hear the Left shouting out platitudes about the First Amendment, an amendment they no longer truly believe in. However, the right to free speech doesn’t protect you against the consequences other citizens may impose on you. It only means the government can’t take action against you. I remember how irate the Dixie Chicks were when many burned their records and protested against their angry attacks on the US. But that’s exactly how the First Amendment works. You can say what you want and not be arrested for it (in most cases), but you can’t stop people from reacting to what you say in ways you might not like.
Appropriate Retaliation
Like most sane people, I was horrified at the images coming from the Gaza Strip. While war is always terrible, terrorism is something else. The Hamas attack was terrorism writ large. The ugliness should have impressed on everyone that Hamas fighters are the bad guys, not simply the other side in a war. They are vile, ugly, nasty and without conscience. In other instances, the world would be standing up to them and siding with Israel as it retaliates.
This time, some people are finally responding appropriately to the Hamas-loving college students. Job offers are being rescinded. At least one major donor to Harvard has stated that no further money will be given to them. It’s a good start, but it’s not enough. Just as there would be major consequences to students who donned KKK or Nazi garb in a protest, there should be consequences to students who stand up for Hamas. It doesn’t matter whether you are Jewish or not. Hamas represents terrorism and no one should be able to side publicly with them without consequences.
The FBI should register every protester they can (as they did with Viet Nam war protesters in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.) But the public should do more. Our Constitution doesn’t say anything about what citizens can do to those who protest in this way. Students should be identified and punished, forced to write essays on their stupidity and make public apologies to their fellow Jewish students. They should see jobs evaporate, scholarships pulled, etc.
Universities tolerating this kind of evil should find their funding dry up. Politicians should be censored or perhaps even forced to resign for their position on Israel (can you hear me, Omar and AOC?) There should be consequences for people who support terrorists.
And our government should wake up to the increasing threat of our open border. More and more terrorists are coming across with plans to do damage to the US. This one is on you, Biden. Not only did you fund the terrorism in Gaza by giving Iran access to billions of dollars. You also don’t protect us internally.
Up till now, the Left has gotten away with supporting or ignoring evil (Falun Gong/Uigurs in China), and coming down hard on people who have legitimate disagreements with their policies. Time for a comeuppance. Their policies have become increasingly ridiculous, leaving us unsafe in our communities (and soon, unsafe from Muslim terrorists). We can’t ignore this anymore.
If you want to return to a saner time, where you don’t feel afraid to go anywhere, vote the bums out. And direct your kid’s education money away from the woke campuses. Time for the Left to pay. They own this.
