Don’t Trust…and Verify

Since October 7, 2023, the world has been rocked by the slaying of 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals along with the abduction of approximately 240 hostages.  I’d love to say that the world stood up against in outrage against Hamas and their sponsor, Iran, but that would be a lie.  Instead, far too many over-educated, misinformed and “woke” people have been protesting any response Israel makes.  They see the negotiations as fair.

Let’s look at a personal example.  Imagine that your family is gathered for a holiday celebration and armed people come into your house, killing some of you and kidnapping others.  If you could, wouldn’t you feel justified in killing the abductors?  Would you support the police in doing anything to get your family back, even if the criminals were killed?  Wouldn’t you stand up in court and ask for the death penalty (or at least life in prison without parole) for anyone caught?  Of course, you would.  This is all that Israel is doing. 

Such a Deal!

First, people pressured Biden to push Israel to stand down.  Bibi was tired of being told what to do by foreign leaders.   None of them knew that this wasn’t just another war.  This time, because of what Hamas did, it was the beginning of another Hitler regime, but this time, the Jews had weapons.  They would never put them down again.

Does anyone believe in negotiating with terrorists and kidnappers?  It’s the policy of most countries not to go too far in rescuing us in a hostage situation.  And such a deal; 50 hostages for 150 imprisoned Palestinians.  Let’s think about that.  Are Jews (and the other hostages) really 1/3 of a person?  Sounds like some old and troublesome part of our Constitution.  And none of these were combatants.  All of the Palestinians were in prison; they had attempted stabbings, hurling stones at Israeli soldiers, making explosives, damaging property and having contacts with hostile organizations.

They also demanded humanitarian aid, which will mostly go to the terrorists.  Don’t believe me?  Just consider who gets food and services in Afghanistan now.  These people deserve nothing as they voted in Hamas to run their country.  Humanitarian aid?  For who?

Meanwhile, they got four days to re-arm and work with Iran. Only worldwide pressure could have caused Israel to back down and agree to this.  Over the many years of the Mideast trying to destroy Israel and kill all the Jews, many Israeli lives were lost.  That’s the cost of trying to keep a holocaust event from happening.  And don’t kid yourself.  That is what Hamas and Hezbollah (and all the other whack-job Arabs) want.  Left to themselves, they should have kept shelling Gaza, even risking the lives of the hostages and the innocent. 

Angry?

I suspect I sound more angry than usual and in part, it is because my family had been through this.  My grandfather got scared after Chamberlain sold the Jews down the river and managed to escape Munich before Kristallnacht and the opening of Dachau.  Any time people in the world feel that Jewish lives don’t matter, it as if they are wishing my existence away.  This is intensely personal.  I have no family in Israel now, but I do have some friends there and it terrifies me to think of what they are going through. 

Jewish Lives Matter.  That’s all you need to know.
