We’ve heard a lot about the social credit system in China, where your “score’ determines your freedom. Some Democrats have specifically supported this kind of thing with bids to deprive doctors of their licenses for giving “misinformation” on Covid, de-platform people for their views and more. But we are a freer country than China. How would they actually accomplish an intrusive control system?
Central Bank Digital Currency
Biden has released a plan to move us to impose government-controlled digital currency on us, aided by the Federal Reserve and Treasury. This would essentially replace fiat currency; bills and coins. Using a fixed value digital coin, all your banking would be via the Fed. The carrot is the idea that this will reduce transaction costs and promote the dollar as an international currency. But this wouldn’t happen. We have some of the cheapest and fastest transactions. The only problem affecting this is over-regulation, which slows things down. And we already have alternatives such as Venmo, Zelle and Apple Pay. We don’t need the government mismanaging our assets. There really is no need for it, except that they want this control. They would also see where and how you spend your money, which again, is none of their business.
Significant Risks to All of Us
Obviously, if one agency controls all our money, they can turn off the spigot on demand. Your freedom would be curtailed if you don’t have access to your money. Do you trust the government to make those calls? Remember that Ted Kennedy found himself on the top-secret, no-fly list. Our government does a very poor job, even if you wanted to let them decide who could have access to their money and who couldn’t. I certainly don’t trust them.
We also know that government systems are very insecure and have been repeatedly hacked. Given a single place all our personal information including our money is placed, hackers would choose that platform as a perfect target. After all, as Dillinger said, “That’s where the money is.”
Replacing private banks with government employees (and systems) would be like asking TSA and the DMV to manage your money. How well would that work? Career bureaucrats who can’t be fired and are generally paid well even when they do lousy work are not who we want in this role. We also lose the benefits when financial institutions have to compete for our business. This is why we have monopoly rules in place. And the government is one of the most unwieldy, broken monopolies in so many contexts: education, postal delivery, regulation, etc.
Want them to watch you in every aspect of your life? They’d be able to track how often you went to Vegas, what food you choose to buy, whether or not you take good care of your health, (in their idea of what that is), or if you choose to buy a gun. They might be able to force you to buy what they want you to buy, (solar panels), and deny you the right to buy alcohol or chocolate. It’s a clear violation of the 4th Amendment, which was designed to give us privacy in our personal affairs. But that won’t help us if they covertly begin to implement this and push people into it.
Our economy would be run by politics, not by free and open trade. When we get a bad president, like we have now, and a lick-spittle Congress, we end up with “the smart people in the room” telling us what to do. And keep in mind, these kinds of intrusions on freedom wouldn’t apply to them. They would keep themselves exempt from it. Under Modern Monetary Policy, a flawed concept that has already given us disastrous debt, the Fed would simply print money to solve every problem, making each hard-earned dollar worth less. In no time at all, we’d probably find our country in the same boat as Venezuela. Where could we go? As we have seen with the border crisis, everyone wants to come here.
The MSM Will Not Tell You
Don’t wait to hear more about this on the news or in the papers. The only place I found this information is in the terrific Epoch Times #epochtimes, which is worth every penny I pay for it. I encourage you to subscribe. Not only do you get a weekly paper, but there is a website with daily news and videos that will keep you informed without bias.
Watch for any hint that this is happening, so we can protest. While banks may not be a perfect solution, they give us options and more important, freedom with our money. Digital currency is fine, as long as a government doesn’t control it or have access to the data. So, pick your kind, if that’s how you like to roll. But we need to keep the federal government out of the financial business. They will destroy the most successful country in the world and upend capitalism at the same time. Though many try to deny it, capitalism has been able to uplift more people from poverty than any other system. It has its flaws, but it is better than any other option available.
Our country is in danger. The far-left must go and we must ensure they cannot ever get elected again. Voting and political activism is essential now. Join me in trying to get the word out.
I’d add too that even our banking system is on the attack with the ESG mania taking place and would provide yet another layer of control in support of the government’s intrusion. Yes, democracy was on the midterm ballots and democracy suffered a blow. We are enduring a benevolent dictatorship in America.
