Green Means Lean (Supplies)
Remember when we were major energy exporters only a few years ago? Energy of all kinds was readily available and at a better cost. Looking at my utility bill, all I’ve seen since Biden and Gavin Newsom came into office is rapidly increasing prices. I’m fortunate to be retired so I’m not driving all that much, but gas prices are digging deep into working families’ income.
“Green energy” initiatives are causing many states, but especially California, to rely increasingly on foreign crude oil to fuel 140 airports and terminals. We have three of the largest shipping ports in America, which means the nation is dependent on California to ensure imports arrive in a timely manner. We also need to fuel the many planes coming in and out of our state; this means we need billions of gallons of aviation fuel per year. Where we once were able to use state-supplied fuel, the green movement, closing down power plants and reducing oil reserve harvests means that we are dependent on foreign countries for crude oil. Imports were only 5% in 1992; we now import 60% of the needed oil.
Newsom wants the state to rely on wind and solar, but those sources fall far short of the demand (and always will). They are inefficient, use too much land and are also reliant on exports from China for the machinery to run them. While we are trapped in the ridiculous pretense that “green” sources can replace all other sources of power, China is doubling down on “dirty” energy production. We rely on China, Iraq, Ecuador and Saudi Arabia to give us the fuel we need for our military bases, airports and ports. But what happens when these sources become too expensive or the countries deny us oil?
Newsom did keep the Diablo Nuclear Power Plant open for the near future, but he is constantly reducing refining capacity, so even if we have a source of crude oil, we can’t do anything with it. We have an increasing population, largely due to the lax immigration policy of both our state and the nation. Our power needs are only going to grow.
Our National Security Risk
President Trump made it clear that a key element to our security was to have power reserves so we no longer had to rely on any other country to run our factories, airports, ports, etc. In one short term, he turned everything around to make us energy importers, robbing other countries of their ability to control us.
Biden and Newsom have instead robbed us of that security. Not only will California’s economy continue to suffer, but this large state, still host to military bases and a frontline in any battle against China, will become an easy place to attack.
Our country needs a return to energy independence, drawing on our huge reserves. While eco-freaks claim that this will damage us, evidence shows that, for example, in Alaska, animals congregate happily around the oil extraction sites because of their warmth. The evidence of environmental damage is slim, while the land waste and inefficiency of green sources is patently clear.
China wants our economy to fall, because if we are no longer the economic powerhouse we have been for generations, they can control the world order, first by making the yuan the reserve currency and then, with their dominance (and patent theft), take over many of the industries the world relies on. Do we really want to continue to let the evil CCP control everything?
The reality is that nothing we do as a country really fixes any purported climate issue as long as China, India and other countries fail to do anything. And of course, there’s a question as to whether there really is a climate emergency. Ask yourself why our leaders on the Left seek to weaken the United States. And then, stop voting for them.
