Cancel Culture Today
Have you found yourself censoring your words, afraid of the impact on family relations, friendships and even your job? Has it bothered you that key conservative speakers are charged with sparking riots, no matter what they come to say, thus limiting your chance to hear these new ideas?
Cancelling was bad enough, but now, so many places are insisting on indoctrination further pushing people apart, highlighting differences rather than letting us learn how much we all have in common. If you still have to work, you first found you had to watch your words very carefully and be ready to face consequences both for things you had said many years ago and even things you’ve said that were misunderstood.
Corporate Boot-Licking
But now, it’s worse. You must be indoctrinated, especially if you are a white male. Disney created “Reimagine Tomorrow,” a 21-day program to force people to accept their “white privilege.” Activists have created many programs and rules to enforce against their Caucasian employees. Disney is only the latest large company to impose this nonsense on their white employees. The companies pay for these classes, pay salaries while you’re in these classes and basically say “Yes, Massuh” whenever a new bad idea crops up.
What’s really happening here? Are the vast majority of minority employees standing up and demanding this fealty? I doubt it. The rare cases of discrimination (often misunderstandings) can be readily handled by the many trained HR personnel. Did we need this? Why are companies rushing to embrace a racist culture because government employees insist they do? Does it make any business sense to a white CEO to invest so heavily in virtue signaling? That’s all this is.
Failing to Learn from History
The way to redress wrongs is never to impose them on another. Even were you to ask former slaves at emancipation whether they would seek to enslave their masters, I bet you’d find almost none of them would truly believe that made sense. German Jews, enslaved by the Nazis, never asked for their captors to be tortured or enslaved. But for some reason, now, we are being told that it’s time for Caucasians to be treated poorly because of a perception that we have benefited on the backs of our dark-skinned brothers. As if affirmative action weren’t enough…
Who Qualifies?
It sounds simple enough – if you look white, you’re an oppressor. But how many are truly Caucasian? Ancestry.com regularly analyzes the complex DNA patterns of subscribers, finding the fascinating variety of origin stories for many of us. If you have one drop of Black blood, are you Black enough? If you’re from another despised community, does this give you a pass? If you’ve found that your past hasn’t held you back and perhaps even elevated you (Meghan Markel, Barack Obama), are you now part of the “white privilege” crowd? This insane proposition needs to be cancelled, now.
Hitting Them Where it Hurts
None of this corporate garbage would be supported if those in charge didn’t think it would help their image. So, let’s call them on it. Employees can’t fight this; you need your job and it’s possible that you wouldn’t be able to get another one if word got out that you protested this movement. (I waited to get my words out there till I no longer needed corporate America.)
But you don’t have to buy their stuff. I cancelled Facebook quite a while back, and helped my friends get off that time-suck. Warning: they make it really hard to do this, but you can. Be patient and persistent. When you discover companies pedaling garbage, consider not doing business with them anymore. No one will know that you personally took this stand; it’s safe. But by shifting your loyalties to companies who stand firm against discriminating against one group of employees, you hurt their bottom line. They get this. Look what happened to Goya Foods when the Left tried to cancel them—they had their best year ever. We can make a difference, one product and one service at a time. Stay away from Disney parks (this is not the first egregious mis-step they’ve made).
Cancel “cancel culture.” It’s our time to fight back!
