The History of Hansen’s Disease
Hansen’s Disease, also known as leprosy, is thought to have originated in Great Chesterford in southeast England in a period from 415 to 545 AD. Caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium leprae or Mycobacterium lepromatosis, infection can lead to damage of the nerves, respiratory tract, skin, and eyes. Though it isn’t actually all that contagious, requiring long-term, extensive contact, it was so feared that leper colonies were created and lepers were kept from all contact with those not afflicted. In some countries, this still is occurring, particularly in parts of India, China and Africa. I saw some of the remaining Hawaiians afflicted with this disease on Molokai. After so many years of isolation, they’ve chosen to stay where they are rather than face an uncertain future.
The New Lepers
Suddenly, we’ve decided to repeat this historical blemish by relegating a large population to “leper” status, i.e., the unvaccinated. Governors have created rules keeping them from interacting at restaurants, bars and health clubs, Fauci has said they still cannot join family for Christmas, and our fearless leader, Joe Biden says that they should be fired from their jobs for failing to fall into line. New reports indicate pressure to not admit the unvaccinated to hospitals when they need treatment. Lepers, indeed!
But you might say that lepers had no choice, but the unvaccinated do. But do they? Only 30% of the Black population has submitted to the jab, in many cases due to their distrust of authority and memories from the past of medical abuse among their people. Some have medical concerns. I was able to bypass the swine flu vaccine, as I’m allergic to eggs. But now, even reasonable medical concerns are ignored, such as the many who’ve survived the CCP virus and as studies around the world demonstrate, are far safer than the vaccinated population. Additional studies show far more risk to those previously infected if they take the vaccine. Some have religious objections, most of which are going unheard. But the bottom line is that we are shunning people for whatever reason or lack of reason as they exercise their right to choose what medical procedures are inflicted on their bodies.
Not Science, and Not Even Common Sense
We seem to be fine with people having abortions and while I am pro-choice, this procedure is the act of killing a baby. We let people choose to die. We let people opt for more modest cancer treatments as they strive for quality of life. You can argue that the difference is that this choice can cause other people harm. Well, a suicide causes many people who loved the person a great deal of pain. Abortion kills a child. We support our friends who can’t handle the suffering of hard-core chemo.
Let’s not forget that it’s been now shown that people who have been vaccinated are even more likely to pass it on to someone else. And a good number of this group have gotten Covid anyway. It’s not like the vaccine guarantees anything. And most important, we have a variety of treatments for this illness, which in many people, presents itself as a nasty cold.
Sure, there are people with underlying health conditions that need to be protected. But we don’t mask up during flu season; we don’t insist everyone take the flu vaccine, even as we know that flu can kill those people. We let everyone make a choice. Those who have reason to fear the flu self-isolate, as they should. Some may not. But we have never before acted as frightened of an illness, not even when Ebola came to our shores in monkey form. Our government isn’t acting rationally, and is causing more harm than the CCP virus ever did.
The Likely Result
All the bad choices Biden has made in his short presidency have caused record inflation, reduced us back to oil importers and made too many people feel they do not need to work anymore. But those who do work now want to keep earning a living, directing their own lives and making a difference.
As a reward for the hard work the doctors, nurses, police and more have put in over the past years, we are now going to fire them because they won’t get the shot. First, our country will become even more lawless. Next, we will find people dying on the street as there aren’t enough medical professionals to treat them. As our economy collapses, tax revenues will drop substantially, making all the giveaways promised by Biden-Harris unable to be funded. It’s as if our worst enemy had been allowed to dictate our future as a country, but instead, it’s elected officials destroying out country.
This isn’t hyperbole. If many medical professionals don’t want the shot, you can be sure they have some very good reasons. But I don’t even care what reason someone has (or doesn’t have). No one should be forced into treatment. And that choice shouldn’t render them second-class citizens.
When the Dems want to push an unpopular program down our throats, they claim that protestors who don’t back them are un-American. “This isn’t who we are.” Well, forcing medicine into arms isn’t who we are.
With luck, the latest verdict of the 5th Circuit to suspend the mandate will become law. Otherwise, we’re in for the worst manmade catastrophe of our lives…and it never had to happen.
I’d really like to see a collection of the 38% who approve of the current administration explain what it is they’re so happy about?
