Check your grocery bill or gas price lately? It’s shocking when you see the tab for a small grocery run totals over $100 when, before, that would buy you groceries for a few weeks. It doesn’t matter what the minimum wage is set at if inflation steals your income. And even those who are better off find that they have to budget carefully. Or, as too many do, they rely on credit. Currently, Americans are paying $200BB in finance charges where once they could pay off their credit card bills.
Bidenomics has failed. It’s no surprise really. Growing the government and government spending while adding fake dollars to the system is going to lower our quality of life. Well, not all of ours…those in power seem to do very well under this setup. But then, they have huge retirements, better medical than Obamacare and generally have lucrative options to further pad their retirement, like Fauci’s “patents.”
It's the Spending, Stupid
While we may wish the government to fix problems, the only vehicle they have to do this is by spending money they extracted from us. There is no money tree or other magic element that funds programs they desire. Even the Republicans, when in power, fail to rein in the spending. It can be hard to say no to demands, as any parent knows, but it is essential. And sadly, all that spending generally accomplishes nothing. Not a single penny of the money used in the Department of Education furthered anyone’s education. There is a way to make us all more prosperous, but neither side seems anxious to take it—shrink the government substantially. Less government means less taxes needed. We all gain from this.
Biden touts job creation, an “accomplishment” also heralded by Harris. But most of those jobs were either government jobs (not useful and they don’t pay their way) or people going back to work following Covid shutdowns. It wasn’t that big a deal. Other jobs were directly supported by the government. At the same time, they make things worse for job-creators, such as the continued power of unions to keep agencies from fiscal prudence. A perfect example around the SF Bay Area is our “rapid” transit system, BART. During Covid, when service was cut in half, not a single penny was saved. All jobs were preserved, as people did less and less. These highly compensated workers do not deserve their pay, but automation is restricted, as it is in the ports in Southern Cal.
Dems never find a program they can’t get behind. Increasing numbers of equity agencies and reparations are popular. How much money did Biden use to bribe student voters with the loan forgiveness he promoted? We’ve already discussed how much of FEMA money was wasted on illegals.
The movie “Dave” had a regular guy assess the federal budget. Citizens against Government Waste has done the same, year to year. There is a ton of waste…we pay for all of it. Why doesn’t anyone just take these reports and cut the waste? With crime rampant and impacting us and businesses we rely on, why are we paying to protect the officials who unleashed the crime wave on us?
It isn’t even just the direct cost of products and services. Given the attacks on business, our investments are being risked. Companies can’t pay dividends and grow companies when the government is going after them.
The Truth About Inflation
The reported numbers look really bad. But if you do the math right, you’ll find that our country has actually been in a recession for most of Biden’s term, because of his policies. Recovery was actually beginning at the end of Trump’s term, but the actions Biden took reversed the gains.
An independent assessment commissioned by the Brownstone Institute shows that inflation is twice the rate you’ve seen reported. Instead of a loss of 20% of value over four years, it is actually 40%. Those are numbers reminiscent of the 2008 disaster.
The only numbers that look good were highly manipulated. I’ve done several talks on how to lie with statistics; the Biden regime has taken this to a new level. Sadly, too many people believe what the government reports, rather than what they see in their own pocketbooks.
Businesses have responded by shrinking packaging, adding transaction fees, creating artificial prices to give you the illusion of a “deal,” and more. They have to. Employee costs have skyrocketed, the result of ridiculous union demands. The worst of these are government employees who have thousands of protective laws, keeping them safe from the normal fluctuations of business. Where once they had small salaries along with nearly guaranteed jobs and a small pension, now, many of them get paid more than private sector rates, which leads to huge pensions. We pay for those. That’s another inflationary problem.
Vote Them Out
Republican or Democrat, if they want a new program without gutting at least two others, vote them out. Make your voice heard. You are spending too much and we aren’t going to be taxed to death to pay for your wish list. That’s our only option. Tell them the truth. Spending is killing our
country and the only solution is a slashed budget, meaning many government employees should lose their job. Good! The sooner, the better.
On the mark as always. And I’d add that the amount of money spent on various projects is highly suspect as well. The long time joke about the supposedly debunked story of the $600 hammer is nonetheless illustrative of overpaying and poor accounting practices. How much could be saved by honest estimates and payouts that still allow a reasonable profit for the provider.
