Who Should be Called Hitler-like?
The Left enjoys throwing out the words “Nazi” and “Hitler” to stain the work of conservatives. (They also like to speak about fascism, without actually knowing what the word means, but that’s another story). As I’ve mentioned in prior blogs, calling someone or groups of people by a name is the practice of children who don’t know better. Or of adults who’ve already lost the argument and have to resort to childish behavior.
However, Hitler wasn’t the first to commit genocide and he won’t be the last. History is sadly replete with genocide stories, but few of the names involved haven’t become tropes. We can look at the Tutsi genocide of Hutus (mostly ignored by American leaders). The Bosnian Serbs (along with the army), killed and committed horrible crimes against Bosniak and Croatian civilians. And these are just the most recent ones. Until China.
Xi (Hitler) Jinping
Finally, we come to the latest genocides, those in China. The Chinese government has long been in the business of killing off those who won’t obey them. Mao was responsible for from 40-80 million deaths; no one is sure how many really died, as China has always been notorious for covering up the truth. I remember so many Baby Boomers, clutching their Little Red Books back in the 60’s and 70’s. And they knew better.
The Left doesn’t really care about the Uyghurs or the Falun Gong practitioners either. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Xi is responsible for the horrible deaths, rapes, mutilations and enslavement happening in the country which remains our biggest threat. But as long as they continue to supply us with cheap goods (and lie to us about how they created Covid-19), our politicians are content not to hold them accountable for their behavior. And yet, in America, our long-past enslavement of African-Americans is constantly brought forward to shame us. While it was an awful time in our history, no one who was a slave or a slaveowner exists today.
We need to look hard at our neighbor in the East and consider the “cost” of those cheap goods.
Forced Organ Harvesting
There are many reasons why America (and most of the Western countries) ignore the behavior of the Xi government. Cheap goods are part of it, but the guaranteed availability of young, healthy organs to those who can pay for them is definitely a factor. Aging politicians know that they could extend their lives that way. You don’t have to wait for UNOS (our country’s transplant registry) to find a match for you.
The people are alive at the time their organs are cut from their body, having committed no other “crime” than to practice a faith or philosophy (Falun Gong is a practice, not a religion) that the government feels threatened by. Neither group has been a threat except in that they answer to a higher order of things, and believe in something that makes Xi nervous. When I hear people try to excuse Xi, I want to yell that forced organ harvesting is as bad as anything Hitler did. He had his labs running insane experiments on people, working others to death (this happens in China too) and of course, exterminating those he hated in gas chambers. Organ transplantation wasn’t as safe or as effective in those days or he would have considered doing that too.
We really don’t know all the things Xi allows or orders his people to do to these prisoners. I suspect many become experimental subjects for research labs like the Wuhan Institute of Virology wants to conduct. I’m guessing it’s all of above and more things we haven’t considered, as these prisoners aren’t valued as people at all.
What Should Happen
No health organization in the world should allow China to be a member. The WHO has already shown its bias by accepting loads of contributions to cover up the Covid story. All medical professionals and their societies should publicly denounce China. No one in a civilized country should be allowed to get an organ transplant in China. In June, Texas started this process, banning health insurers from financing organ transplant surgery in China.
But we need to go further. Rep. Scott Perry is trying to pass the Falun Gong Protection Act, which would sanction any who persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act of 2023 would punish anyone enabling the abuse of these prisoners (who shouldn’t be in prison anyway) did pass in the House. Did you hear about it? Why isn’t it law?
But the sanctions need to go further, if we dare. We are now far too dependent on China. What would happen if all civilized nations pulled support from China? Stopped trading with China? I believe we should, but will our politicians dare? Or will they go on calling people names instead of actually doing something?
