THE NEXT WAVE OF REPARATIONS
Reparations are inherently problematic—who owes what to whom? You can’t really offer anything unless:
a. The class is clearly defined – who is entitled to them
b. The affected class is alive (or if the action killed them, only the next generation benefits
c. The people paying them are directly responsible for causing the injury/death
These don’t apply to slave reparations—there are too many complications. But nothing stops the Left. Read on to see the newest version of “stiffing it to Americans.”
Climate Reparations
Stephen Moore wrote about this in a recent edition of the Washington Examiner. Like almost everything regarding “climate change,” this latest move is just about money…quite a bit of money as it turns out.
After a climate conference, attended by 20,000 delegates from 100 countries (all of whom likely added to the CO2 problem with their travel, food and lodging), this group decided that rich nations must give “reparations” to poor countries. They claim it is owed because of our use of fossil fuels over the past years.
As Moore points out, those fuels allowed us to save the world from Hitler and other despots during the many wars and the Cold War. We have used energy to innovate, providing the world with more food, more water, technology that even empowers the poor in Africa and medical care that benefits everyone. Without fossil fuels, America couldn’t have achieved what it has and the wealth and resources that empower the world would have been lost. We give out disaster and foreign aid without end, both through our taxes (government) and personally. We are extremely generous, but we couldn’t be without using the best tools we have, which include fossil fuels and, importantly, capitalism.
What About the Rest of the World?
No one else seems to be on the hook for this. China is wealthy and huge – where are they in this fight? India and China are the biggest polluters in the world and the problem is only getting worse, yet no one is asking them for money. Why is it always us?
Green Money
The poor of the world are struggling with the basics. But if we really wanted to help them, we would use the “Green Lobby” money to get food and water for them, schooling and health care. Perhaps their struggles are a bigger (and more fixable) issue than climate change, if you even believe that climate change is a. (a), problem and (b), fixable by the methods proposed by WEF and our government.
Who Deserves Thanks
Because of our successful system of capitalism, we are a very prosperous country. We empower our innovators and make it possible for everyone to improve their lot. We then give money to almost every country, stand in defense of them and otherwise make the world a richer and better place. Imagine the world without us.
We are owed thanks from the ungrateful world, instead of the condemnation and complaints of other countries. We offer freedom and a chance at a successful life, however you define success. People all over the world seek to come here…why? We need to stop apologizing for our greatness and shut down people who try to blame us for everything.
Climate reparations are BS. When you vote for Democrats, you are voting for this idiocy and so much more. Like all good Communists, they find ways to take money from most of us, steal their cut and give the rest to “the poor.” Not okay.
