A Book Review

In the last two years, I’ve looked at health care principles and practices that have been altered in light of the CCP virus, and wondered why.  What could motivate the leaders in the scientific and medical field to do a U-turn on long-validated ways to treat illness?  Some areas of concern were:

-      Lack of treatment for those in early stages of Covid.  Even when nothing is proven out, most doctors will try palliative measures and even experiment with proven drugs.  Given that this is a corona or “cold” virus, there are options.

-      Complete lockdown on various “off-label” medications where doctors couldn’t even prescribe them, nor could pharmacies fill them, even as historically, we’ve trusted doctors to do this. 

-      Embargo on ways we can bullet-proof our immune system to keep from catching the virus, or if we can’t, to minimize the severity.  Some options are vitamin D, quercetin, zinc, etc.

-      Holding firm that natural immunity was meaningless.

-      Slander and libel against doctors who have challenged the status quo.

Why change practices that have been proven to work in the past?  There had to be a motivation for doctors such as Fauci, et al, to radically change the way we treat novel diseases.  Until reading this book, I didn’t understand.  Now, I do, and perhaps this will book will help you see what’s really going on, so you can make your own best decisions on your health care.

Follow the Money

In grad school, we learned a lot about getting grants, the only way to pursue your research.  Your topic (disease) had to be something that was prevalent and compelling, meaning that those affected were a stakeholder group who politicians cared about.  I was dismayed by that, but back then, there were more places to apply to than there are today.

Grant applications weren’t as political as they are now.  If you disagree with Lord Fauci, consider that not only will you have trouble getting grants (and may see your grants cancelled), but no studies will be done if they upset the major funder/player in medicine today, Big Pharma.  I had always been a supporter of the pharmaceutical industry where my father spent his work life, but today, they have too much power in keeping inexpensive remedies out of the market. 

Ironically, when asked early on if he would take hydroxychloroquine if he had Covid, Fauci said he would.  But he went on not to approve it or support its approval; if he had, people would have been able to get it with their insurance or Medicare.

Beholden to the pharmaceutical companies which funded a lot of his research and supported him financially, he set up trials of generics and other remedies to fail, giving time for the drug companies to make vaccines and later, treatments.  They came up with Remdesivir, a very expensive and deadly drug.  It also didn’t really work on the CCP virus.

Fauci’s agency, the CDC and other agencies set up to deal with infectious disease were already having issues as early as 1949, when we had conquered many of the worst of them.  They desperately needed more diseases to keep their budgets and their jobs.

Ad-fear-tising

To get people to wait for the vaccine and not go after the remedies that had been found to work, fear had to enter the equation.  Fear also worked to keep the sick from early treatment; they were told that there was only room for the sickest at doctor’s offices and hospitals.  But how were people getting that sick?  No early intervention was permitted.  To scare people further, wildly inaccurate models over-estimated deaths by 525%.   That’s one way to ensure compliance.

Ad-fear-tising is also working to scare up of the far less deadly and more common Omicron variant.  Fauci has also used this tactic to keep people from using some of the off-label and generic drugs for their prophylactic efficacy.  It took the government forever to admit that keeping an adequate amount of D-3 in your system would protect you or at least, make your illness milder.  In any measured study, no one has died from Covid if their D-3 levels were adequate.  (Note:  D-3 is also good for a wide variety of conditions and tends to wane in older adults and those with darker skin who don’t absorb as much from the sun).

Fauci’s History

Kennedy goes into some effort to track the sketchy scientific career of Fauci.  The book goes into a lot of detail on how he dealt with AIDS; a similar failure to act on readily available treatments.  It’s fascinating reading.  For doubters, each section is heavily laden with footnotes, leading to background articles.  Kennedy did his homework.  He didn’t start out to be aligned against the current process.  As a Democrat (the son of RFK), he probably would have begun more pro-government.  But what he discovered really upset his belief system.

A fact that we all should be aware of, despite Fauci’s attempt to squash any rebellion, is that once the FDA approves a medicine, US law authorizes doctors to use it for ANY reason they deem necessary.  This is why the death rates in some third world countries are lower, even as their hygiene isn’t up to our standard.  Their doctors can prescribe the cheaper drugs and get people well faster with hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.
