One week prior to a planned vacation, I learned that the US has been placed in “red” status by the EU. We had planned to stay a few nights in Amsterdam prior to boarding a boat there, but now, we had to get out of the area in only 12 hours. Given the time of our flight, that is nearly impossible. We’re struggling now to salvage our trip, which has been planned for quite a while and involved hours and hours of effort and expense.
Why Did This Happen?
We had been seen favorably by most countries until just this week, but the increase in cases has taken us back to zero. In the past months, we have been allowing hundreds of thousands of illegals to cross our border. We don’t test them, we don’t vaccinate them, even as we require citizens who return to the US to prove they are safe.
Worse yet, we transport them at taxpayer expense all over the country, pretty much wherever they feel like going. Then, we pay for their expenses as few of them speak English or have any viable skills. We treat illegals better than our poorest citizens, for reasons I have yet to understand. I certainly don’t support this, and I suspect, even many Biden voters would be unhappy to understand the impact on us. They fill our hospitals, probably shoving out citizens who deserve preferred treatment.
We’ve been increasing the vaccination rate, albeit a bit slower than desired. We’re all putting up with mask mandates and testing and doing our part. But people we didn’t choose and don’t want are exempt from all of that, causing us to lose our mobility and our rights. Since when did the rights of lawbreakers trump the rights of citizens?
Increasing Crime
But I’ve forgotten something. As crime has surged all over California, and presumably other states, we’ve turned our back on victims with laws protecting criminals, such as ignoring theft of less than $950. This includes home invasions, apparently. So, thefts are on the rise; crooks figure that even if they exceed that amount, there are so many crimes that no one is really looking hard for them. After all, we’ve defunded the police.
A lot of crimes are being committed by illegals, especially if they can’t find a way to qualify for our too-generous benefits.

If companies are so helpful in helping illegals travel, why not send them back? Cut the benefits so that they live or die on their own resources. And any caught will be tested before deportation so we can block them permanently from any visits. Some are bringing even worse diseases over, including Ebola. We used to insist our legal immigrants be healthy; why are we ignoring this risk to our families?
The US has to stop being such an attractive place for people who won’t follow our laws to enter. Then, perhaps we can allow room for the Afghanis still remaining (only those who have certified papers that they helped us) and persecuted Cubans and Hong Kong citizens. We know those people work hard and aren’t seeking a free lunch here.
Make it tough on illegals and they will give up. We’ve seen it under Trump and we’re paying a high cost for the reversal under Biden. It’s time to crack down.
