One of the most critical factors in establishing a free society is the ability to own your property. A few South American countries have begun to emulate the US and this is the first aspect they implement...because it works. But freedom isn’t the goal of our politicians and other leaders; they want control. This was amply illustrated during Covid. They relished the ability to pick and choose which businesses must close and which people were essential workers. But power corrupts and addicts: they want more power. Climate change is the vehicle to do this.
“There is a major effort under the Biden administration to consolidate power over land and resources, because whoever owns the land and resources of a nation, controls the people,” Margaret Byfield, executive director of American Stewards of Liberty, a property rights nonprofit, told The Epoch Times.
The Climate Change Push
While China continues to build successful and usable coal plants and other “polluting” energy sources, in America, the politicians want only wind and solar plants, making us dependent on the vagaries of weather and nature. At one time, people were vulnerable in that way, but we’re not used to it and our new world demands power. And for businesses increasingly relying on technology, unreliable power sources aren’t sustainable.
Aside from the fact that we get most of the products to create solar and wind farms from China, where digging up the rare earth elements causes huge impacts to the Earth (and to the poor workers), the thing that these so-called "clean” energy sources require is land. Lots and lots of land. Right now, the government owns way too much of our land, managing and controlling it poorly in most cases. It is estimated that “their” land is 25% of the total land mass in our country.
But because of how that land is managed, much of it can’t be used for wind and solar, so our government, in the shape of our feckless leader, Joe Biden, plans to use eminent domain to “take” the land they claim to need for this purpose, even as few of us want a wind or solar farm near us, nor do we want to give up the land we have for this. Bad enough that too many farmers moved from growing food to growing corn for biofuel. This would be worse.
How Much Land?
“With current siting practices, an area the size of Texas is required to accommodate the wind and solar infrastructure we need to reach nationwide net-zero emissions by 2050,” said Katharine Hayhoe, chief scientist of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), a renewable energy advocate.
This amounts to 250,000 square miles or 160 million acres of land. The land they covet is mostly privately owned and the owners, in most cases, don’t want to have solar panels, wind turbines, power lines and carbon pipelines installed on their property. When one owner does allow this, everyone around loses property value. The local environments are damaged and you find that your investment in land is diminished.
When you can’t convince a land owner to cooperate, the government jumps into eminent domain, but current city and state laws often conflict with the green goals. The power-grabbers intend to create new Green Laws to handle this perceived “problem.” We’ve seen what eminent domain can do to people who’ve owned their property for years and value it. Oddly, you don’t see someone inflicting eminent domain on people like the Obamas on Martha’s Vineyard. No, it will be regular people who may not even own all that much. But is it even yours?
Will It Happen?
The answer is yes, it is already happening. In MI, the Public Service Commission controls all the green projects and takes away control from locals. Two companies are trying to construct carbon sequester pipelines through five states. For every ton of carbon sequestered, the company will get $85/ton under Biden’s rules. They plan to use eminent domain and guilt-tripping to wrest the land away. One of the companies has already served papers to 150 landowners in South Dakota, condemning their land. Eminent domain for private gain has already gotten through the courts, but till now, the attempts have been few. That is about to change.
In addition to the land acquisition for net zero, the Biden administration announced its 30x30 program in a January 2021 executive order. The order states that 30 percent of America’s land and water should be set aside for "conservation" by 2030.
Watch out! Even if you live somewhere that isn’t being despoiled with these ugly installations, you will likely be near them, especially in the West, where 50% of the land is government-owned.
We have to stop letting the World Economic Forum and the UN have a say in our business. And we have to stop the Democrats and Joe Biden. While they will see no impact in their enclaves, this movement spells disaster for the rest of us.
We just keep electing these people to office and they in turn appoint the administrative order to enforce their agenda after they’re gone. The WEF is insanity in the flesh.
