One of our strongest beliefs as a nation is that we are all equal under the law. That’s why Justice is shown blindfolded. We know that this belief isn’t always honored. For many years, being Black meant being found guilty. Now, in blue states, it is pretty much the opposite: no bail, no consequences. But still, we expect courts and those in the field of law to honor these covenants. We also tended to trust the Department of Justice, thinking that it would be agnostic. We were wrong.
Trump Derangement Syndrome
While Democrats have never been particularly fair-minded (look at all the crimes many have committed while reaping no consequences), their attacks on Republicans have never been as blatant, nor as consequential as the ones they have unleashed on Trump. It isn’t really hatred. Few actually know the man. This stems from their fear. Not only does he oppose their socialist agenda. He also would strive, as much as a President can, to undo the police state mentality, reduce government dependence, shrink the regulatory and administrative state which increases the cost of being a citizen and close our borders. And so much more. They’ve seen how hard he works and how much he can get done, in sharp contrast to Joe Biden who appears only able to manage a few hours a day before slurping down an ice cream cone and taking a nap.
Fear can spawn some ridiculous behaviors. We’ve all seen it. The person who panics in a new situation because they hear a strange noise. A young adult being asked to move out and start their adult life. Even someone exposed to a new idea that contradicts everything they’ve believed. But the Democrat’s fear is about the loss of control. They have to keep Trump from winning because he exposes the dangers of giving anyone that much power. As a person, he isn’t seeking power himself; that terrifies them. He isn’t seeking money. He has plenty. That makes him dangerous.
Inequal Justice
Justices have vowed to “get Trump,” as part of campaign promises. Right there, you see the problem. If this was a juror, they should be dismissed. A judge this biased should recuse themselves or be removed. But somehow, this blatant bias is allowed to stand. Can you imagine having to face this situation if you were accused? There is no way to spin this other than a Justice Department vendetta against a candidate.
The most recent case to settle was a ridiculous claim that he defrauded investors by over-valuing his property to secure a loan. Commercial managers do this all the time; it only becomes a crime if the person fails to pay off the loan. Why? Because the only thing that matters is the loan pay-off. If he had failed to pay the loan off, AND the sale of his assets was insufficient to cover his debt, then he would have committed fraud. A fraud case must have an injured party, and the state of New York is not a party to this loan. The fine violates the Constitution against cruel and unusual punishment; it is definitely unusual. Even when fraud has occurred, you don’t see this kind of award. And who should receive the money? Certainly not the city or state of New York.
January 6th. Did Trump actually spawn a plot to overturn the election? First, the evidence is slim. For people attending his rally, which was at a fair distance from the Capitol, to get to where the action was happening was impossible, unless they left before he really began to speak. His claims that the election was rigged are even less fervent than Hillary’s four-year attempt to overturn her failure to win. There is nothing to show he told people to storm the Capitol. And even so, little damage was done and it is THE PEOPLES’ building. Yet, one woman was killed (and in almost any investigation, the police officer would have been investigated by IA and found guilty of improper discharge of a weapon, if not manslaughter.) Those charged have also had their rights violated with many of them having served long “sentences” prior to being tried. We don’t treat actual terrorists this badly.
He also tried to challenge the GA election. I remember Al Gore having a hissy over his loss and yet, no one thought that was worthy of a court case. Given the many ways fraud is likely to have occurred in these elections, a challenge seems prudent. At the least, when many counties reported more people voted than were actually living in the county, there is no way to explain this other than fraud. And there are so many other ways to cheat. I grew up in Chicago, and everyone knows how sleazy elections have long been in that city.
Stormy Daniels is a funny case as they actually are going after him for lying to his checkbook. Isn’t that a personal matter? But it shows how desperate they are to destroy the “orange man,” as they like to dub him. Oddly, the Left really enjoys making snide comments about the other side, but when a Republican does it, it’s criminal. Even Biden has threatened to take Trump out to beat him up. While the idea is ludicrous, isn’t that legally an assault?
The documents case has been largely destroyed as Biden continues to turn up more evidence of him having stashed many more documents during his time as VP. Many were less securely held AND, he was entitled to take nothing when he left. Only the President has any rights. Why aren’t we going after Biden for this? Or Hillary for deleting thousands of work e-mails that should have been securely sent and saved.
Why Should We Care?
The simple fact is that whether you think Trump is a jerk or plan to vote for him, every single person in America should be scared. Just look at the Jan. 6 perpetrators who caused less damage and harm than the BLM rioters. The minute an exception is made to the way jurisprudence is supposed to work, we are all at risk. A joke that circulated during the Soviet times is that “you’re not supposed to understand or know the law. We have crafted it to ensure everyone is a law-breaker so we can bring you in any time we want.” This is the result of the Left v. Trump. Once a precedent has been established, they can use it to go after you.
We should all want our legal system to be as fair and impartial as possible, because, someday, you may be facing it yourself. It’s a work in progress, obviously, as history shows that the courts were biased against Blacks for many years. However, what is happening now is a serious setback for all of us, not just Trump.
Be afraid, be very afraid…of the Left.
And you know, from the book, that you can't count on anyone at the trial being unbiased. Good point
After reading your blog I was reminded of Kafka’s “The Trial” where you never do find out what the crime actually was. As I think you alluded, a crime doesn’t appear to be required to be charged and tried. It is frightening to the extreme.
