I recently had dinner with a friend and was asked, “How can you vote for Trump? He’s committed so many crimes.” I wanted to explain that each and every “crime” is NOT a crime and that many have done the same things with no consequences. That the judges and DAs are in the tank for Biden. That this is Trump Derangement Syndrome. But instead, I asked, “What is so great about Biden? What has he done?” I wasn’t surprised that she had no answer. I have answers; the four years of gains we had under Trump. Even I was surprised at what he accomplished and wondered what else he could have done with Congress totally behind him. I had long wanted a businessman in office, someone who knew how to get things done.
What Do We Want in a President?
I used to believe that we all shared a common desire to have someone who told us what he/she would do and then did it. But instead, elections have become a demented form of Survivor. The reasons to kick someone off the ballot are too often ludicrous. The reason to pick someone is often just as illy, such as like Gavin Newsome because he is good-looking.
Marshal Kamena, Mayor of Livermore, CA, recently wrote a great article on “Trump’s Lack of Decorum, Dignity and Statesmanship,” reminding us all of what it really takes to make a good President. He notes that dignity is something the Republicans were too often felled by clinging to their dignity instead of “going low.” Kamena reminds us of George W. Bush whose quiet dignity was met with nastiness, lies and hatred.
Statesmenship was also a focus of the Right. John McCain was noted for his ability to work across the aisle and focus on larger issues and needs. Propriety is also considered important, but was there anyone that more embodied this than Mitt Romney.
These attributes have hurt Republicans both in elections and in office. By playing by rules that we felt were important, we found ourselves overrun by nastier, ruder and even crooked Democrats. Kamena noted that the rules the Left plays by are those of Saul Alinsky, “Rules for Radicals,” which so inspired Obama. It’s important to remember that Alinsky’s rules were integral to the Chicago mob. Obama played up racial hatred with lies about Ferguson, stoking anger, rage and protests, instead of inspiring people to live with each other peacefully. He also notably lied about what happened in Benghazi, putting a filmmaker in jail instead. The IRS became a weapon of the Left going after conservative groups and people. Biden has empowered this agency even more with the many additional agents.
Obama played hardball; he wasn’t dignified, collegial or proper. Neither was his wife. He has followed the rules of the Left that began in the ‘60’s where they demonized draftees who served our country in Viet Nam, urged people to drop out and live on the government and began the policies that have made many seek out “victim” status. Meanwhile, the Right continued to act as if behaving in a civilized fashion (voting in incompetent, Lefty judges, supporting bad policy and letting the Left run over them) was the right thing to do.
A Pitbull Instead of a Chihuahua
Donald Trump has been a businessman all his life, learning the hard knocks of negotiation as he built his empire. Feeling called to lead the country, when it would have been more profitable and easier to keep running his corporations, he saw his role as a culture warrior, the first on the Right.
Wars aren’t won by nice guys. Kamena highlights U.S. Grant, who was a drunk and not the nicest guy. Lincoln kept him in the Army, because, as he said, “I cannot spare this man. He fights.” General Patton wasn’t a nice guy. These people won when it was important to win. Donald Trump is a man in their mold. He sees the battlelines drawn and is willing to fight the Left, instead of pretending this is all a polite game.
Trump is using the Alinsky methods against the Left. He has personalized everything. His name-calling and crazy tweets all fit in with THE BOOK. He’s gifted at coming up with the names; they fit. He managed to marginalize CNN; who watches that anymore? Ridicule is a powerful Alinsky weapon, and he uses it better than most. His latest video compilation of Biden missteps cannot be ignored.
The Left has a choice. They can return the MSM to real journalism, reporting the facts without opinions or slants. Or they can continue to bleat and wail, sounding more like The View every day. But does the Left really have a choice? If reporting reflects reality, they can’t win. Bidenomics is really Bidenflation. We all know this. It is costing us dearly, especially those of us on fixed incomes. The border is nonexistent and illegals are being treated better than our own poor and our veterans.
To save our country, and I don’t say this lightly, we have to have a pitbull in office. We need someone who will fight the forces that seek to create the Great Reset, forcing us into socialism and bankrupting our country. We need a pitbull to face off against China and the Middle East. Notice that no one was invading anyone while Trump was president. Did he make a few mistakes on Covid? Yes, but then, like too many, he trusted Anthony Fauci, a man whose actions are responsible for too many deaths.
Is Donald Trump a great husband? A nice person all the time? No. But what isn’t reported is what kind of boss he could be. I learned years ago that when he went to a jobsite, he went to the hod-carriers and the most junior workers, asking them what was holding them up. What did they need? Then, he talked to the foremen and got things done. He respected workers who strove to do a great job and better themselves. This is what he can do for America.
And let’s not forget. Biden is NOT a nice guy. He said many racist things about Obama, has some creepy behavior around women and children. And in his 50 years of political life, he has a bad track record. "I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades,” former Defense Secretary Robert Gates says of Joe Biden.
When the world is in an upheaval, everything is getting worse and you can’t imagine a good future for your children, who are you going to call?
I say--Donald J. Trump.
Great article. I’ve always felt we needed a real leader, ie a good businessman in the presidency and Trump was excellent. The woke left is not capable of critical thinking, so that demographic would never come around. Hopefully the illegal aliens will not vote because it is illegal for federal elections.
