Great points. I found it funny that they have a problem with so many words, including cockpit - all women pilots are comfortable with that term. I wrote a bit on this a while back - https://denisekalm.substack.com/p/newspeak But I do appreciate you adding some great context. And I wonder if we couldn't bring back the Sears house - sounds like it might solve other problems.
You might consider the left's larger initiative to cancel words and phrases used in everyday life. This initiative is well captured in this Dr. Phil segment: https://www.facebook.com/drphilshow/videos/1264145511102024/ . At 3:04, Dr. Harper claims that the historical origin of the phrase "Master Bedroom" as the place where the, "slave master regularly raped enslaved black women." As a man with an advanced degree, one can only assume that he is lying to protect a narrative (never let the facts get in the way of a good narrative, right?). The reality is, "The first recorded usage of 'master bedroom' seems to have been in a 1926 Modern Homes catalog by Sears, Roebuck and Co. The pamphlet offered potential buyers a kit they could use to build their own homes. A 'master’s bedroom' was referenced in the second-floor description of the most expensive home in the catalog, but not in the floor plan itself." (see https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/05/realestate/master-bedroom-change.html#:~:text=The%20first%20recorded%20usage%20of,to%20build%20their%20own%20homes. ).
And I was remiss in not noting that right-wing people have also promoted opinion instead of facts, spin versus truth. But though the right did censor people in the past, today's cancelling is really all on the right.

And as we all know this will eventually come back and bite the very people who have instigated it. Just a matter of time.
